Blow-drying (How to create straight and curly hair with a blow-dryer)

If you just washed the hair, you need to dry it a little bit to take at least 80% of the water out, cause you don't need it soaking wet. If you try to dry it from soaking wet, it will take you twice of the time to completely dry it and style, and also the amount of the heat you're going to put on the hair is unnecessary.
When doing the consultation on the hair of your model you look for information as: fine hair, chemically treated hair, thick, curly or fizzy, ecc.
If the hair is quite damaged use, heat protector(from mid length towards the ends, unless you have someone with really damaged hair starting from the roots).
Add some mousse to the hair- always apply it to mid length to ends. Make sure the mouse that you are using is not too sticky, cause that might make your hair feel quite unkept. Just a small amount can be used on the roots for a bit of lift. Sometimes, if you add too much mousse on the roots, it can look greasy when finished.
For afro hair use a product that contains oil, it will help to make it smooth and sleek.
If you have someone with a fringe, at  this stage you can start to style the fringe, cause otherwise, if you leave it for the last, you might need to wet it again, cause it's going to dry faster.

Curled and Volume hair:
Normally that comes towards the face. Ideally the top section is more of a like triangle point.
Take the front section away.Start sectioning the back. Section the hair slightly in an angle. You need to make sure that the section you are going to work on, the depth is not too thick, because if it's too thick is going to be hard to dry the root area.
The brushed are different sizes and obviously, a larger brush- for bigger curl and a smaller brush for smaller curls. Make sure your section id not wider than your brush.
Place the brush underneath your section, lift it up and dry the roots first. Keep moving the hair dryer in  order not to burn the scalp of your model. Continue until your root area is dry. Then move to the mid length going in up. Continue until the hair becomes smooth. When it comes to the ends... dry the ends in the same way until they are smooth and then roll your brush keeping the blow dryer on the hair. When taking out the brush from the hair, bring it round and give it like a small twist.
You can pin the curl as you do it with a tong and leave it to cool in a nice shape.

Straight hair:
The technique is basically the same as for the curls, but you can also change brush if you want more of a sleek effect. Use a paddle brush for long hair, or denman brush for medium and short hair. It won't give as much volume to the hair. In this case you have also to be attentive at the direction you dry the hair, especially the ends.
